All Buffalo Lumber orders are delivered MILL DIRECT to your JOB SITE. Our orders are custom milled and factory finished. All communication is handled personally - by phone and email. 

Our normal lead time from order to door is 2 - 8 weeks. 

Once your order is placed we stay in email and phone contact with you throughout the course of your order. If there are any delays you will be the first to know. We guarantee your order will be completed as ordered!

T&G Cedar Wood Siding is a best seller because of its versatility. It can be used indoors or outdoors, rough side or smooth side, installed horizontally, vertically or diagonally, to provide distinctly different looks.

Tongue & groove siding has both a rough and smooth face and is normally graded to the rough face (the best visible face) unless requested otherwise for a higher price.

Tongue & Groove Patterns (T&G) have the greatest variation in profile - the outline or shape of the board. How distinct or shadowed the line between the boards appears after installation depends on the shape of the edge.

1x6" Tongue and Groove is the most popular size but a wider 1x8" pattern can be selected to have a more rustic appearance. Traditionally T&G cedar siding is "beveled" on both edges.  The 1/4" beveling can be adjusted to a finer line or no beveling at all - called FLUSH Joint.

Understanding our Prices: We price tongue and groove cedar siding by the square foot. Give us a call to speak with one of our wood siding experts about price per square foot. If you know your approximate square footage, our wood siding experts can multiply it by the price per square foot so that you have a better idea of what your tongue and groove cedar siding  will cost you. Price per square foot changes based on quantity or volume ordered. The finish price may include your tongue and groove cedar siding plus one coat factory stained or primed. 


We give “ballpark” prices to help you plan your project. Due to global uncertainty we are unable to guarantee those prices because prices may fluctuate. Price is only locked in once you've placed your order.

The finish price may include your cedar wood siding plus one coat factory stained or primed.

If you select PRIME + PAINT, the Primer coat will be evenly applied on all 4 sides. When its time for top paint coat, the machine's bottom jets are turned down to make sure the top coat is even thickness with no splash back. This will minimize the paint that gets on the backside and under laps. We recommend factory prime plus one top coat with a 2nd coat after installation in field.

T&G Cedar Pattern Profiles

BEVELED, FLUSH, CENTER V

Most Tongue & Groove pattern profiles are "beveled" on the face edges - called a V Edge (as in V2E diagrams above). The depth and angle of the beveling determines how distinct the edges appear. The standard 1/4" beveling can be adjusted to a finer line or you can opt for NO beveling at all - called FLUSH Joint. 

1x6" Tongue and Groove is the most popular size but a wider 1x8" pattern can be selected to have a more rustic appearance. There is also a T&G pattern profile "carsiding" that has a V-Groove in the center of the board. This gives the illusion of a narrower board (1x4") when installed but with the time savings of a wider board (1x8").

In the last few years a CUSTOM milled modification to the standard Tongue & Groove "Beveled Edge" V2E profile has gained in popularity.  It's called "Micro-Bevel" T&G or "FINELINE" with beveling reduced to 1/8 or 1/16" inch to create the finest of shadow lines.

The biggest and most frequent mistake we see people make is thinking they can just tack cedar siding up and stain the face to save money. This is the Worst Thing you can Possibly do with Wood Siding!

The problem is water. Water gets behind the wood and causes problems. By the time you realize there is a problem the cost to repair it is in the thousands or tens of thousands.

99% of all reported siding failures are installation related. That puts a pretty big onus on preparation. Doing the job exactly the right way is worth its weight in gold when you consider that anything that goes wrong costs multiple thousands of dollars to address.

I would highly recommend buffalo lumber for anyone looking looking for lumber. They were absolutely great people to deal with from the 1st call to the last. The cedar siding was perfect. Out of all the t&g I ordered I don't think I wasted more then 1 or 2 boards but used those boards for smaller pieces. We resided a whole home. Wish more businesses were like this!
